The Dedmon Center Sports Complex is home to the Highlanders. RU’s student-athletes take great pride in performing at the highest caliber in NCAA Division I Big South Conference competition. RU fields teams in eight men’s and 11 women’s sports and claims league titles and championships in eight different sports. To support this level of competition, the campus offers excellent facilities. The Dedmon Center houses a variety of recreational amenities, including a olympic-size pool, indoor jogging track, five racquetball courts, a weight training and fitness room, locker room and team rooms. It also features a 5,000-seat arena with a main basketball court and volleyball court for intercollegiate competition and four recreational courts for basketball or volleyball. The arena is also used for concerts, graduation and other large university events.

Fact: At the northernmost tip of campus is the Dedmon Center, named for RU’s fourth president, Dr. Donald N. Dedmon. The center is one of the few permanent structures in the United States with an air-supported fabric roof.
